Candy Tsourounis, PharmD

Tsourounis
Professor

I evaluate how medicines are used at UCSF Health. I work with other healthcare providers to measure and assess the value of the medicines that we use to treat patients. I also help manage the UCSF medicine formulary by working with other healthcare providers to select the most effective medicines, ensuring that they will be used in a cost-effective and safe manner to improve the care of all UCSF patients.

Julia Tsoi

Financial Analyst

As a financial analyst, I provide post-award research administration for Drs. Arkin, Altschuler, Huang, Miller, Renslo, Sakanari, Shu, Wang and Wu, including assisting with the development of proposals and budgets, ensuring agency and campus policy compliance; handling project set-up, financial management of funds, interim budget reports and expenditure projections; performing cost transfers; coordinating project close-out and the preparation of final reports.

Trang Trinh, PharmD, MPH

Associate Professor

My research incorporates data science to predict real-world outcomes associated with antibiotic use in adults with infections. I teach epidemiology and infectious disease pharmacotherapy in the School of Pharmacy curriculum. I also provide support on continuous quality improvement and research projects conducted through UCSF Health’s Antimicrobial Subcommittee and pharmacy residency program.

Bani Tamraz, PharmD, PhD

Tamraz
Associate Professor

My primary interest is identification of genetic determinants of drug response through modern methods aimed at addressing pharmacogenomics research and translating that information into new diagnostics and treatment strategies at point-of-care.

Jules Taffe

Finance Analyst

As the post award analyst I am responsible for ledger reconciliation and preparation of budget status reports for all facility funding. I also assist with management of the front office and the planning and operation of the International Symposia on Mass Spectrometry in the Health and Life Sciences.

Francis Szoka, PhD

Szoka
Professor

I work with the dean as well as the vice dean of academic affairs to develop new avenues for incentivizing faculty success and retention.

During my research career, I applied biophysics, chemistry, and immunology to understand and devise better ways to deliver drugs, proteins, and nucleic acids to treat cancer and infectious diseases.

Xiaokun Shu, PhD

Shu
Professor

We apply laws of Physics and Chemistry to design tools for Biology, and use the novel tools to understand fascinating Biology and discover life-saving therapeutics.

Brian Shoichet, PhD

Shoichet.
Vice Dean & Professor

I co-lead the School’s plans for developing graduate education programs in the computational and experimental sciences along with Rada Savic, PhD. These programs are geared toward giving the School’s PharmD students greater career opportunities throughout biomedicine.

As a faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, I develop new methods for drug discovery, adopting two strategies to do so. On the one hand, we reduce biology to its molecular components, and seek to change how these fit together using synthetic molecules we design. On the other hand, we investigate how the biological molecules operate together, both in health and disease. Both processes involve intensive modeling and close collaboration between theory and experiment.

Jaekyu Shin, PharmD, MS

Shin
Professor

I teach and precept pharmacy students and work with underserved populations at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. My research focuses on the clinical application of cardiovascular pharmacogenetic tests and pharmacoepidemiology.

Rita Shane, PharmD

Assoc Dean & Professor

As associate dean, I work with area directors of advanced pharmacy practice programs in providing administrative support, mentoring, and instruction to students and faculty members. I am also the vice president and chief pharmacy officer and professor of medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
