Giacomini, Krogan, Shoichet, and Manglik recognized among most influential scientists

Kathy Giacomini, PhD, BSPharm; Nevan Krogan, PhD; Brian Shoichet, PhD; and Aashish Manglik, MD, PhD have been placed on Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers List 2022, making them among the most influential researchers in the world.

They join 33 other UCSF scientists named on the annual list, which is based on citations tracked by Clarivate’s Web of Science over the last 10 years. This year’s cohort totals 6,938 scientists and social scientists, representing the top 1 percent of citation earners.

The rankings demonstrate each faculty member’s impact in their chosen field: Kathy Giacomini, PhD, BSPharm, dean of UCSF School of Pharmacy, for the field of pharmacology and toxicology; Nevan Krogan, PhD, director of the UCSF Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI), for the field of cellular and molecular pharmacology; Brian Shoichet, PhD, co-vice dean of graduate pharmacy education programs, for the field of pharmaceutical chemistry; and Aashish Manglik, MD, PhD for the field of biology and biochemistry.
