Grants & fellowships: summer 2017

Pharmaceutical Chemistry department members have received the following grants and fellowships between July and September 2017:

  • 9/21/2017: The National Institute of General Medical Sciences awarded John Gross a four-year grant for his project entitled, "Conformational Control of Heterochromatin Formation by the HP-1 Protein from Fission Yeast."
  • 7/25/2017: The National Institutes of Mental Health awarded Lei Wang a Multi-Year Funded Research Project Grant for his project entitled, "Nano-switches for optogenetic control of neuronal proteins with ultra specificity. This award will be funded through 2020.
  • 7/1/2017: Amy Weeks, a postdoc in the Wells lab, received the UCSF Career Award at the Scientific Interface. The program provides bridging support, including support in the advanced postdoctoral years and aims to assist individuals in making the critical transition to obtaining a faculty position. This is a two-part award, and the term can last up to five years.
  • 7/1/2017: Wells' lab postdoc Xin Zhao received the Damon Runyon Cancer Research award and is now a fellow with that institution. This award term is for four years.
