Zev Gartner, PhD, has received tenure and advanced to the position of associate professor. Researchers in the Gartner Lab study mammalian cell-cell interactions, with an emphasis on how tissue structure serves to organize cell-cell interactions in vivo. They work entirely on cell-cell interactions relevant to human biology, using the human breast as a model tissue. Although focusing on the breast, these efforts have relevance to other tissues as well and have important implications for regenerative medicine and cancer progression.

After earning his BS with high honors in Chemistry from UC Berkeley, and both Masters and PhD degrees in Chemical Biology from Harvard, he was a postdoctoral scholar at UC Berkeley. He joined the School of Pharmacy faculty in 2008.

The importance of Zev’s research and his continued promise have been recognized with very successful fundraising from various funding agencies.
