School scientists developed an antiviral that fights SARS-CoV-2 that can be given as a nasal spray.

As vice dean of PharmD education I work with Conan MacDougall, PharmD, MAS, on all matters related to the education of our PharmD students. This includes oversight of the integrated core curriculum (the didactic portion of our curriculum) and experiential education, as well as the PharmD Education Unit charged with admissions and student support, curricular administrative support, and curricular assessment and review (Assessment Team). We are also responsible for communication with local, state and national organizations involved in pharmacy education, licensing, and curricular accreditation.

In addition to these tasks, I am responsible for physiology education across UCSF’s health professional schools. I teach physiology and pathophysiology and I direct Renal Theme, one of the first-year integrated courses administered through the Department of Clinical Pharmacy.

In order to keep UCSF researchers informed of changes to the research activities as well as current research related to COVID-19, the Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) at UCSF is hosting the third QBI Coronavirus Research Group (QCRG) Subgroups Town Hall.

The QBI Online Seminar Series presents Pascale Guiton, assistant professor of biological sciences at the California State University East Bay. Pascale trained as a molecular microbiologist at Washington University in St. Louis and at Stanford University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on uncovering novel differentiation and virulence determinants of Toxoplasma gondii. Pascale is a strong advocate for Black voices in academia.
